Totem Software Update Guide
Totem releases free software updates for the Totem Compass on a regular basis. Software Updates are released to improve performance, extend battery life, and occasionally fix bugs.
Each software version shows a different Crystal Color on power-up. This is an easy way to tell if you're running the latest version.

Features & Improvements
- Passive calibration in Vibe Mode - no more calibration spin required

How to Update Your Software
Option 1: Totem Compass App
The easiest way to Update your Totem Compass Software is by using the free Totem Compass App!
Updates can be downloaded directly to your devices via Bluetooth by following the prompts on the App.
IMPORTANT: Bluetooth Updates via the App were added to the Totem Compass in February 2026. If you're running older software than that (Version 4.2), you must use the HotSpot Method (below) to update your Totem to a modern release, then the App will handle your updates moving forward!
Option 2: HotSpot Method
If you don't have access to the App, or are running an old version of Totem Software, a universal way to update a Totem's software is through a mobile HotSpot.
To use this method, you must change the credentials of your smartphone's Personal Hotspot to match the universal Wi-Fi network that every Compass knows, then triple-clicking the SOS Button on your Compass while powered on to initiate a Software Update.
