The Totem Compass is a magical device that helps you find the people you love, without the need for cell service, apps or Wi-Fi.
To achieve this, Totems harness the power of GNSS, layered with a peer-to-peer communication protocol and our Unity Mesh Network™ that allows you to find your friends by simply following the pretty lights.
This blog post is designed to make your festival compass experience as easy as possible. For more information on how the Totem Compass works, check out our post all about it!
This blog will cover everything you need to know about Vibe Mode on your Totem Compass.
What is Vibe Mode?
Vibe Mode is one of the most fun features of the Totem Compass.
Every festival compass comes equipped with sound reactivity. When your Totem isn’t actively navigating you to your friends, your Halo (the ring of LED lights around your Totem) animates in-time with the sounds it hears—whether that be music, or someone's voice..
When you aren’t finding your friends, the Totem Compass recognizes Vibe Mode through tilt recognition—or in this case, the lack of tilt. Whenever it’s idly hanging on your chest, your Totem automatically vibes to the music.
Vibe Mode is designed to adjust its sensitivity automatically depending on how loud the volume is around you, so your rave compass will continue to Vibe even when you’re around earth-shaking decibels at a festival stage. We all know impenetrable vibes are crucial to having the best experience, after all!
Vibe Mode draws a very low amount of energy on the compass’ battery. That said, if you want to extend your Totem's battery life or be a little more discreet, you can easily switch into Eco Mode by simply clicking the power button while it's turned on.
What You Can Do While Your Totem Is in Vibe Mode
Besides Vibing, there is only one other thing that you can do while your Totem is hanging vertically: send and receive SOS alerts.
These are all the features available while your Totem is in Vibe Mode. To use any other feature, including the Touch Crystal, you'll need to enter Compass Mode by holding your Totem horizontally. 🧭
How to Mute Vibe Mode
To mute Vibe Mode and switch to Eco Mode, simply click the Power Button once while your Totem is turned on.
Eco Mode is a special state that mutes Vibe Mode and extends the battery life of your festival compass. To learn more about Eco Mode, check out the Totem Pro Guide.
Totem Pro Tip: If you're taking your Totem Compass out for an all-day adventure, you will want to extend that battery life as long as possible.
If you want to get the best battery life with your Totem, then try to resist the temptation to use Vibe Mode all day. Vibe Mode looks incredible at night, but your battery is the only person who will notice it during the mid-day sun.
Beauty in the Details
Vibe Mode is designed to bring more beauty into life's most magical moments.
Beauty is one of Totem’s Four Core Values. We all deserve to have beauty in our lives. We all deserve to feel like our lives are beautiful.
But beauty isn’t solely about how something looks. It’s also how something feels. What it does. How it changes your life.
Life is too short to be filled with things that don’t spark joy. The only guaranteed way to make the world a better place is to make it a more beautiful place, one filled with love and emotion.
As a rule: everything we do, everything we build, must make the world a more beautiful place.
We believe that life's most beautiful moments are experienced alongside the people we love. And everyone—regardless of race, creed, or upbringing—deserves a beautiful life filled with love.
Stay tuned for future blogs, and as always, let the lights guide you. 🫶
