The themes in the critical reviews are consistent: battery life on older software, a learning curve during setup and connecting, and weaker performance indoors or under cover (the Totem Compass needs a clear view of the sky to find satellites). “They work well, and actually helped us when one of our friends had a blood glucose scare. Three of us went to go get water and the rest waited by the food stands. While we were waiting for water station, one of my friends got really lightheaded and needed to sit down. It turns out she had rushed to meet us at the venue, and in the process didn't get to eat before arriving. Her blood sugar tanked and our friends had her candy/snacks. We used the SOS feature and after a few minutes of wondering why we were taking so long, my other friends realized that the SOS beacon was flashing on their totems. They eventually made their way to us and helped us get her situated and feeling better again. I truly believe that without the totems, there's no way they would've found us in the crowd, and we wouldn't have gotten my friend the help she needed as soon as we did. A note on SOS: SOS Mode alerts the friends you’re Bonded with (connected to on your Totem). It isn’t a replacement for event medical staff or emergency services, so in a real emergency, get help from on-site staff or call emergency services.
