🌐 Update Your Totems! 🌐

The BIGGEST and most exciting Totem Compass update to date has finally arrived — Version 3.7! This version brings with it a plethora of improvements, new features, and bug fixes.

‍

Reminder: your Touch Crystal will flash a color when you power on, indicating which Software Version you're running. Version 3.7's color is White!

‍

In fact, Version 3.7 has SO MUCH in it that we've decided to make our entire 3-2-1 this week a Version 3.7 Deep-Dive! If you love the tech... you're gonna love this one 😈

⬇️ Shipping Update ⬇️

Another big week for preorders is upon us... the latest batch of 7100 more Totems are shipping starting today!

‍

After more than a year of hard work, the Totem Compass rollout is almost at the finish line. It's quite the emotional time over here at Totem HQ, that's for sure. 🥹

‍

Here are the latest updates:

‍

• As of today, over 15,000 Totem Compasses have shipped to customers around the world
  
  
• Over 1000 Totems will be leaving our shipping facility every day this week, so we'll be updating the Rollout Tracker with the latest order number in the Queue at the end of the week - giving our fulfillment friends space to do their thing! 🔥
  
  
• We are still on track to fulfill ALL pending orders in February, and most of those will be much sooner.

‍

For the vast majority of pre-orders, the wait is already over. For those toward the back-end of the queue, this is the month you will finally get your Totems.

‍

The 2025 festival season will be unlike anything we have experienced so far: unprecedented freedom, safety, and beauty for all. 🎉

3 things we accomplished ⬇️

1) Improved Battery Life

‍

First and foremost, the change coming in Version 3.7 we're most jazzed about is... 60-80% longer battery life in all modes, including over 24 hours in Eco Mode!

‍

Our Engineering team has been hard at work optimizing the software powering the Totem Compass, and the results have been spectacular. 🤩

‍

Version 3.7 introduces Day Vibe and Night Vibe, customizable brightness settings to help you get the most out of your charge.

‍

Day Vibe is the Vibe Mode we all know and love—bright and eye-catching even in broad daylight—while Night Vibe gets you several hours of extra battery life by lowering the brightness slightly. 🙏

‍

You can toggle between the 3 power modes easily by pressing the Power Button once—the same way you previously switched from Vibe Mode to Eco Mode.

‍

Day Vibe ➡️ Night Vibe ➡️ Eco Mode

‍

What sort of difference does this actually make, you might ask?

‍

Day Vibe: 10hr+

Night Vibe: 14hr+

Eco Mode: 24hr+

‍

Those times only describe how long the Totem goes until it enters Low Power Mode (blinking red).

‍

Once your Totem reaches Low Power Mode, you can navigate for 30+ minutes before it actually dies, OR you can leave it hanging vertically and be found by your friends for up to 2 hours!

‍

When you do run out of power, Totems still charge at their incredibly quick sub-45-minute pace, and never forget their Bonds, so you'll always be able to find your people no matter what. 💗

‍

2) 1000m Peer-to-Peer Range

‍

One of the questions we're asked most often: "how far is the range of these things?"

‍

Farther than you think. In fact, it's so far than some uninformed people online have even claimed that it is IMPOSSIBLE! 😂

‍

Well, Version 3.7 will only add to the disbelief—Totems now have over 1000 meters maximum peer-to-peer range!

‍

That's a 37.5% increase over previous Software Versions. 💪

‍

To put that range into perspective, it's enough to cover the full length of Legend Valley— the venue that hosts Lost Lands every year—AND its campgrounds without even using our legendary Unity Mesh Network. 😎

‍

‍

Now that the peer-to-peer range is higher, our lightning-fast Unity Mesh Network will be even MORE efficient, with Totems only needing the mesh in rare situations (like Burning Man, which spans 3+ miles). 🫶

‍

But if you're ever using your Totems outside of a major event—like in your neighborhood, or at the park, or while hiking—that extra ~300 meters of peer-to-peer range might be clutch!

3) INSTANT Mode Switching ⚡️‍

‍

Another radical accomplishment coming in Version 3.7 — Totems will now be ready to navigate the moment you are!

‍

Previously, it took a few seconds for the Totem to enter Compass Mode when you picked it up.

‍

NO MORE!

‍

Now, it's near-instant. ⚡

‍

Festivals are over so quickly, and every second matters. We are here to help you squeeze every drop of juice out of that beautiful experience. 🫶

2 things we learned ⬇️

‍

1) People Want to Crystal Check and SOS Anytime

‍

‍

From recent Product Feedback submissions, we learned that people want to play with more of the product features while they're inside (and unable to get satellite connection).

‍

With Version 3.7, you can perform a Crystal Check and send/receive an SOS alert any time—even without a satellite connection.

‍

At massive indoor events—such as the New Years Eve festivals—where there is no cell service AND no satellite connection, the ability to SOS and notify your friends when you want to meet at a predetermined spot can be incredibly helpful.

‍

We've gathered a TON of valuable insights from people who have submitted Product Feedback about their Totem experience—YOU are the reason that Version 3.7 is so jam-packed. 🥰

2) The Importance of the Crystal Twinkle 💠

‍

Throughout the Totem Compass development process, we've played around with LOADS of different visual appearances for our user interface.

‍

One of the visual aspects we've been back and forth on is the Crystal Twinkle! ✨

‍

If you've downloaded a Software Update before, you've seen the Crystal Twinkle before—as your Totem downloads the data, the crystal sparkles like a real crystal.

‍

During our testing, we learned that the Crystal Twinkle can add up to 2 hours of additional Battery Life in Eco Mode. ⚡️💪

‍

When that discovery was made, the decision was clear — Crystal Twinkle would be a permanent change to the Totem Compass moving forward!

‍

Not only do we think Totems are more beautiful now, this little twinkle plays a small but important role in making sure YOU are Never Lost Again. 🫶

Features & Improvements

• 60-80% longer Battery Life across all modes, increasing Vibe Mode to 10-14 hours and Eco Mode to 24+ hours on a full charge

• SOS works in Vibe/Eco Mode when no devices have a GNSS lock

Bug Fixes

• Peer Bonding success rate should be near 100% (excluding user error)
  
  
• Glitch where bonding animation could display on top of other animations in the LED ring should no longer occur
  
  
• Bug where Bond Management Mode would occasionally start immediately after bonding is fixed
  
  
• Searching for GNSS animation exits immediately once a GNSS lock occurs.
  • Previously this would take a few seconds to exit!
    
    
• Low Battery Warning animation no longer displays simultaneously with sound react, improving visual experience

• Magnetic declination updated for 2025-2030, so true north should have improved accuracy
  
  
• All Compasses are synced to true UTC time. Previously the time on devices was delayed by 1 second

• LED brightness of battery warning animation reduced from 60% to 30%
  
  
• LED brightness of over-the-air update progress bar reduced from 60% to 30%
  
  
• RTC can be synced from Peer devices that know the current time
