What Is the TotemLoop?
The TotemLoop is a collaboration between Totem and ClutchLoop, a company that makes anti-theft phone tethers built around a retractable steel line. We teamed up to build a version designed specifically for the Totem Compass, and it quickly became one of the most-requested accessories in the Totem lineup.

- A TotemLoop attachment for your Totem Compass

How the TotemLoop Works
Clip the carabiner onto something secure, like a backpack strap, belt loop, or fanny pack. Then attach your Totem Compass to the tether using the TotemLoop attachment.
When you want to check where your friends are, pull your Totem out on the retractable line, hold it up, and follow the lights. When you’re done, let it go and it retracts back into place.
No unclipping. No setting it down. No “wait, who was holding my Totem?”
Using the TotemLoop With Your Phone
Every TotemLoop also comes with a ClutchLoop attachment for your phone, so you can use the same tether to secure your phone instead. It holds one or the other at a time, so pick whichever you want clipped to you that day. Crowds are exactly the kind of place phones tend to go missing.
Why Use a Tether at a Festival?
Crowds Make Grab-and-Run Theft Easier
Dense crowds, loud music, and people constantly bumping into each other create perfect conditions for someone to grab something and disappear. A tethered device is much harder to snatch because it’s physically attached to you.
Drops Happen Mid-Dance
Theft isn’t the only risk. Things fall out of pockets, slip off wrists, and get knocked out of hands, and a crowded dance floor at night is a terrible place to search for a dropped device. With a tether, a drop just means your Totem swings back toward you.

How to Keep Your Totem Compass and Phone Safe at a Festival
A tether is one layer of protection. A few simple habits make it even more effective:
- Clip to the front of your body. A carabiner on a front strap or a front-facing fanny pack is harder for someone to reach without you noticing.
- Don’t set your devices down. Picnic tables, merch counters, and porta-potty shelves are where devices get left behind.
- Bond before you go in. Bond your Totems with your group before you enter the festival, so nobody has to fiddle with devices in the crowd.
- Make your Totem easy to identify. A different Totem Skin color for each person makes it obvious whose Compass is whose.
- Charge overnight. A tether keeps your Totem attached to you. It can’t help if the battery is dead.

It’s designed to make grab-and-run theft and accidental drops much harder by keeping your Totem Compass physically attached to you with a retractable steel line. No accessory can guarantee something will never be stolen, but a tethered device is a far harder target than a loose one.

Yes. Every TotemLoop includes a ClutchLoop attachment for your phone as well as a TotemLoop attachment for your Totem Compass. The tether holds one or the other at a time.
